The Fastest Way To Build Muscle
This is a very popular question that is asked thousands of times a day. The
honst truth is that there is no one blanket answer that will cover everyone. If you are just starting out it
is a lot easier to gain 10-15 pounds in the first couple of months than if you have been lifting for years. If
you are a 20 year old man it is a lot easier to build muscle than if you are a 60 year old man. If you are a
hard gainer, this presents a whole new set of challenges.
Rest assured, anyone can gain quality muscle mass, but the fastest will be different from individual to
individual. Here are some tried and true basics to follow that will cover most individuals.
Proper diet and nutrition. This is the first and most fundamental step to gaining quality
muscle mass. A proper diet is the foundation of your muscle building goals. You need to eat, and eat often. About
every 2-3 hours. Before you start eating enough for a small army stop and make sure what your eating is high
quality foods with the correct ratios of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. To figure out how much to eat take the
number 17(carbs=4,protein=4,fats=9) and multiply it by your lean body weight. So if you weighed 200 lbs (200x17)
you need to eat about 3,400 calories a day.
Find a good workout routine that fits your personal schedule and muscle building goals. After
you have found a good workout routine stick to it! Don't make excuses, just go to the gym and lift. I know this
sounds simple but I see so many people skipping workout days, and then later on wondering why there not making the
gains they should. Be honest with yourself, if you are missing work out days either adjust your workout schedule or
your personal life. Consistency is key.
Lifting intensity. Have you ever herd the term "you have to lift big to get big"? Well, there
is some truth to this. Don't go out and try to squat 500 lbs if you can only get 2-3 reps with poor form. Instead
pick a comfortable weight and push yourself to the limit. Squeeze out every last rep until you can't do another one
with good form, then rest for 60-90 seconds and perform your next set. Working out with this kind of intensity will
ensure your hitting all the muscle fibers to grow quality muscle mass.
Use free weights. Machines are good for isolation exercises, but if you want the fastest way to
build muscle your going to need to use free weights. Use free weights in conjunction with compound exercises.
Compound exercises are movements that use two or more joints. Examples: squat, bench press, shoulder press, dead
lift, pull-ups, and so on.
